This year, Ben decided to try something new for his gifted program project and so far, it is a big hit!
In September, he recruited his brother Elliott and Sarah, a grade 5 student, to join him and start a trio. With the help of Jean MacRae, who selected a repertoire to challenge them all, they have embarked on a new adventure.
Sarah is a piano student who studies with Judy Hung. Even though she had very little experience working with other musicians, she has risen to the challenge and has made tremendous progress in the past few weeks. She is hardworking and determined to nail every note and the boys are very happy to have found another passionate musician to play with.
With a violin, a cello and a piano, a whole new repertoire is now accessible. Jean selected a piece by Carl Bohm to begin the year. They have to work on the piece at home during the week and they meet once a week with Jean to learn to put it all together and work with one another. If all goes as planned, they will take part in a competition in the spring.
I had the chance to attend a rehearsal last week. Below is a little video of the beginning of the piece that they are working on. Enjoy!
